Job Description
The Regional Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the Regional seed treatment business of the North American Agricultural Products (AP) Business and provides the regional business units with short, mid and long-term seed treatment marketing strategies, product pricing, portfolio management and product positioning to ensure AP maintains a sustainable profitable business in the region. The RMM performs as part of a matrix reporting structure within regional and global BASF.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements with the business and global marketing teams, the strategic seed treatment marketing plan to ensure that BASF will be grow within the segment.
- Key account manager for North American key seed company accounts. Manage current contracts and negotiate new or expand current contracts. Align with other BASF regions where possible.
- Product supply management including short and long term forecasting, manufacturing timing, containers, labels, etc.
- Provides key regional input into the development and implementation of global projects as assigned.
- Provides leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of seed treatment life cycle management projects and applies global strategies for new and existing products.
- Identifies opportunities for in licensing, out licensing, divestment or other such alliance opportunities within the regional seed treatment portfolio that would strengthen the total portfolio. Conducts analysis to support business case for such direction.
- As a member of the Regional Marketing Team, participates in critical decisions of the unit regarding the integration of the APN business strategic marketing direction.
- Plans and monitors the mid to long term financial performance of the seed treatment assets within the region. Recommends and develops appropriate strategies to improve the profit contribution.
- Approximately 25% travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or masters degree in business, agriculture or related area. MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in the agricultural industry, to include a background in seed or seed treatment marketing or sales. - Demonstrated negotiation experience with external parties is required.
- Strategic thinking is strongly desired.
- Proven capacity in creative marketing applications, knowledge of the industry, marketing management and finance.
- Must possess a winning attitude, be creative, responsible, and be a good team player.
