Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate in Dallas Center, Iowa to identify and develop new SNP markers from high through put and medium scale sequencing efforts.

This person will be responsible to deploy high quality corn markers to GMT SNP Production labs. This individual will propose sequencing projects to fulfill needs for genome wide investigation and global needs for endogenous trait integration. This person will ensure that a comprehensive process enables information flow from sequencing efforts, through SNP discovery finalizing with marker deployment to the SNP Production labs.

• Perform standard assays for DNA genotyping, DNA preps, DNA analysis, PCR, sequencing analysis, agarose gels, etc.
• Identify, develop and optimize new molecular markers for corn on different SNP chemistries.
• Work with large SNP data sets from high through put next generation sequencing.
• Supervise a technician to establish and execute protocols in the lab.
• Communicate and collaborate with Bioinformatics for software development to assist sequence analysis and marker development.
• Proactively identify process deficiencies, develop and implement custom solutions to facilitate efficient marker development processes to satisfy SNP Production needs.
  
   
• Masters degree in molecular biology, biology, genetics or scientific related field and minimum of 4 to 6 years of industry related experience or equivalent is required.
• PhD in an agriculture related field and 0 to 2 years of related experience is preferred.
• Must have excellent knowledge on DNA sequence analysis software like Sequencher, DNAStar, VectorNTI, BLAST.
• Experience with marker technologies and primer design.
• Experience with management and interpretation of large sequence polymorphisms datasets.
• Good understanding of biological information related to molecular markers and marker assisted selection.
• The position requires a self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills, wiliness to multitask and ability to work in a team environment.
• Supervisory experience is a plus.
