Seed Processing Manager

Location: Woodland, California, USA

Summary:

Direct and manage all seed processing activities with overall responsibilities for seed cleaning, maintenance, sizing and other processing activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directing the activities involving seed processing, seed maintenance, sizing, sampling and quality improvement.
  • Establish and monitor overall processing performance and quality standards. Ensures product meets established quality standards.
  • Develop and implement processing techniques to improve and accommodate delivery, consistency and throughput.
  • Develop and follow detailed planning for all processing activities and resources in order to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all activities.
  • Controls and miminizes labor overtime, repair and maintance expenses.
  • Implements and maintains preventive maintenance programs.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Participate in cross-training activities to ensure that all standard operating procedures are kept in line.
  • Through continual communication, work with production, operations, sales, inventory management and quality control to keep informed of on-going activities, issues and concerns.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team to accomplish company objectives.
  • Ability to lead and supervise employees in seed processing to build and improve their work performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to motivate people towards a goal.
  • Maintain a valid Qualified Applicator’s Certificate or higher or the ability to obtain one within 12 months.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or five years of general management experience in a seed conditioning environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-starter or ability to use creative thinking and independent thinking to solve problems and implement solutions.
  • Strong technical knowledge in seed conditioning methods.
  • Ability to interface with departmental and non-departmental employees.
