Manager, Licensing and Business Development
Location: Barton, ACT, Australia The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) was founded in 1990 and is one of the world's leading grains research organisations, which is responsible for planning, investing and overseeing RD&E to deliver improvements in production, sustainability and profitability across the Australian grains industry.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Manager for Licensing and Business Development to join our GRDC Team in Barton, reporting to the Senior Manager, Intellectual Property for an ongoing permanent position.
This position is responsible for managing the performance of licensees for the current license portfolio and the negotiation of new commercial arrangements, and managing GRDC compliance with license obligations. This position is also responsible for assisting the GRDC Strategic Themes to deliver commercial outcomes from a portfolio of R&D projects, and to actively seek new technology opportunities from Industries in Australia.
Key responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
- Day to day management decisions relating to GRDC's portfolio of commercial licenses
- Management of commercial licenses to maximise return on value and are aligned with GRDC strategy
- Delivering Theme commercial outcomes for the benefit of the Australian grains industry by the timely and effective delivery of research outputs and technology solutions that are adopted by stakeholders and partners
- Ensuring Commercial outcomes and outputs of the Theme projects/programs are communicated appropriately within the GRDC and to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensuring GRDC meets all statutory and regulatory obligations within the position portfolio
- Managing the investment and operating budget of the portfolio
Selection Criteria for this role includes:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position and relevant Degree in a technical field such as Science or Engineering.
- Experience in the commercialisation of innovations from research in agricultural sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in different technology areas in a professional and time sensitive manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated high level skills in intellectual property database management.
- Demonstrated experience in driving cultural change across a diverse portfolio.
