Research Scientist for Genomic Selection in Sugarbeet Breeding
Location: Einbeck, Germany KWS is one of the most innovative and long established plant breeding/seed companies worldwide. For more than 150 years we have been breeding and marketing high performance varieties for the modern farmer. Our key crops are sugar beet, corn and cereals as well as oil seed crops and potatoes. Our core markets are in the temperate climate zones of Europe, North and South America as well as China.
We are seeking at the earliest opportunity a
Research Scientist (m/f) for genomic selection in sugarbeet breeding
on a full-time basis. The contract is expected to extend one year due to maternity leave.
Your tasks:
- Application and development of genomic selection in sugarbeet
- Standardization, optimization and extension of statistical data analyses for the interface between breeding and molecular breeding
- Planning, implementation and evaluation of marker analyses
- Interpretation of molecular marker data for the preparation of breeding decisions
- Participation in practical breeding questions
- Interface between biostatistics and data management
Your profile:
- PhD or MSc in biostatistics, plant or animal breeding
- Experience in evaluation and optimization of genomic selection routines
- Knowledge in QTL and association studies
- Know-how in standard statistical software (especially „R“)
- Knowledge in genetics and the application of molecular markers
- Very good English language skills
- Team player and excellent communication skills
- Reasoning power and self-initiative
