Breeding Director, Fruited Vegetables

For the Company’s activities in vegetables we seek a Breeding Director Fruited Vegetables (full time)
The objective of this position is to direct several international breeding teams aiming at delivering value-added innovative hybrids within the Cucurbitaceae and Solanaceae families. You are based at the R&D site of Hazera Genetics in Israel and you report to the Head of R&D of the Business Unit Hazera Genetics – Nickerson-Zwaan. Functional relationships extend into the Vegetable Seed Division of the Limagrain Group to which the Business Unit belongs.
Your tasks & responsibilities:
- Provide direct and functional leadership to breeding managers and breeders, and strengthen the knowledge base of the breeding teams.
- Develop and keep up-to-date future vision-based crop strategies with business objectives in line with the Business Unit strategy, Crop Business Plans and technological developments
- Direct the translation of business objectives into goal-oriented mid-term and annual breeding plans (content and budget), deploy resources optimally, monitor progress and steer on achieving objectives
- Secure smooth interfacing with other functions such as Marketing, Production and Breeding Technology
- Optimize breeding processes, exploit and strengthen our genetics base and expand our freedom-to-operate position
- Maintain, build and leverage internal and external networks to support timely delivery of business goals
Your profile:
- PhD in Plant Breeding and/or Genetics or in related domains within the Life Sciences
- Proven people leadership skills, future-vision based with business objective orientation
- Proven experience in plant breeding, prepared to visit the breeding trials abroad
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent command of the English language
