Product Manager
Location: Uchaud, France Sakata Vegetables Europe is part of Sakata group, which is one of the leading international seed company. We are very active in research, processing and marketing of vegetable seeds.
Mission:
Within the department of Marketing and Product Development, this position performs an essential role in the definition of the development and evolution of our business. The job can be principally defined as follows:
- The overall management and coordination of the development of key crops across the Europe, Middle East and African markets, notably for Cauliflower, Pepper and Cucumber
- The development and the implementation of the strategy for each crop across the region, including pricing, portfolios and positioning
- Key interaction with the different breeders and or suppliers to communicate market needs, size and information as well as trends and expected sales trends to better align breeding programs with the market needs
- Responsible for the evaluation and development of new varieties in the pre-commercial phase and preparation for commercial introduction of the variety
- Management of the lifecycle of all varieties within the array of the concerned crops. This includes coordination between sales needs and seed production especially within respect to seed production costs and seed availability
- Travel extensively across the region (around 30% of your time), working with our dedicated sales teams and distributors where relevant, providing technical support and knowledge to customers
- Coordinating the communication plan for the concerned crops along with the Marketing team
Profile:
- Preferably a 5 year degree in Agriculture/Agronomic Engineering, with a preference in Horticulture, would be expected of potential candidates.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years working experience in the vegetable industry is necessary.
- Working in an international environment will require the candidate to be fluent in English, (reading, writing and speaking).
- Computer skills are also necessary to complete all functions.
- Due to the scale of the position, the candidate will require good communication and organizational skills along with some degree of flexibility to coordinate and manage tasks and goals.
- An adaptation to different cultures, styles and preferences of different key personnel with whom the candidate will interact will be essential to the success of the position
