• This position would be located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Primary purpose of the Job would be to assist pathologist and breeders in disease screening activities and in selection of disease resistant lines.
Major Accountabilities
- Survey and collection of plant pathogen isolates.
- Artificial and natural screening of fungal, bacterial, viral and nematode diseases.
- Maintenance and multiplication of fungal, bacterial, viral and nematode cultures.
- Maintenance of sick fields for soil borne disease screening.
- Insect rearing for virus resistance screening and insect bioassay.
- Plan and conduct field experiments for disease screening.
- Survey, collection and analysis of pathological data from research fields and farmers/customers fields.
- Identification and control of diseases at R&D farm, production farm and farmers’ fields.
- Provide guidance and help to farmers in implementation of new and effective crop protection measures.
- Provide guidance and help to breeders, personnel in production, field technicians, marketing staff and farmers in disease diagnosis and disease management methods.
Applicant should possess M.Sc. in Plant Pathology and working experience 3+ yrs in vegetable crop diseases.
Applicant should be willing to travel both domestic & abroad.
