On behalf of our client, we are seeking candidates for consideration for the position of Assistant Breeder, Lettuce. This is a full-time position based in Salinas, CA eligible for a competitive compensation package!

General Purpose: Assist the Research Director in the continued development of commercially viable lettuce varieties.

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to the following:

• The scheduling and execution of appropriate crosses, determined by the breeder
• Planting/managing R&D trials
• Evaluation of R&D trials, in the absence of the breeder
• Data collection for intellectual property rights applications
• Stock seed maintenance
• Accurate and complete records of your work
• Travel as necessary
• Writing a brief, weekly summary of activities
• Assist in Pathology Lab
• Other duties and responsibilities as required by management

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and/or experience:

• Ability to successfully perform the above-noted position responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in specified field with a Masters or higher highly desirable.
• Must possess basic office environment experience (phones, copying, faxing, filing etc.)
• Computer skills (working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Excel, Internet, E-mail)
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.
