We are seeking at the earliest opportunity a Research Scientist/Plant Molecular/Statistical Genetics (m/f) on a full time and permanent basis contract.

You will work in the maize molecular breeding team of KWS in Einbeck, Germany.

We offer you:

• The opportunity to work in an innovative molecular breeding project on high-resolution mapping and gene discovery in maize
• Design, analyze and interpret genetic and statistical studies including linkage and association mapping
• Perform Meta QTL and haplotype analysis to fine map important genomic regions and describe their allelic diversity
• Support the identification and implementation of advanced statistical tools for genetic mapping, haplotyping and allele mining
• Support phenotyping experiments for functional validation of candidate genes
• Getting member of an international team of plant breeders and researchers

Your profile:

• PhD in Plant breeding, Plant Genetics, Biology or a closely related field with an emphasis on analysis of genetic information
• Familiarity with interpretation of genetic studies, in particular QTL and association mapping and marker based breeding applications
• Good knowledge in plant breeding, quantitative and / or molecular genetics
• Experience with abiotic stress tolerance traits in crops is desirable
• Experience in using standard office software, databases and statistic software (R)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both laboratory and field scientists
• Fluent English skills
• Excellent team player and communication skills
• Attendance for travelling
