Regulated Plant Material Technician
Location: Ghent, Belgium The plant biotechnology Innovation center of Bayer in Gent is part of Bayer CropScience NV in Diegem. The Gent site now has 350 employees and is the most important research and development center of the BioScience division of the Bayer group. Bayer CropScience – BioScience is a leading international player in the research, development and marketing of agricultural and vegetable seeds with added value traits. In the Gent Innovation center, the innovation and commercialization process of improved plant varieties are being streamlined by integrating plant biotech research and global business support functions – such as legal, intellectual property, quality analysis & control and regulatory.
We are looking for a Regulated Plant Material Technician (m-f).
Job description
- As a Regulated plant material technician you coordinate the shipments of regulated biological material (Proteins, DNA, Leaf, Seeds) according to the company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- You also collect the information and prepare all the documentation needed for the shipments.
- You are in charge of the labeling and of the packaging and you follow the delivery of the requested materials.
- Furthermore you update the stock inventory and communicate pro-actively with the stock managers.
- You support the production of various types of Reference and Control Material (leaf, seed) in the greenhouse in Belgium and provide this material to the different internal and external requestors.
- You ensure compliance with the agreed ‘Quality Assurance’ guidelines and SOP’s.
- Finally you update the production protocols and collect the documents needed for future use of the material produced, ensuring the traceability.
Your qualifications
- You have a Bachelor’s degree at a minimum or equivalent by experience.
- You have 5 years of experience in administration, documentation and logistic coordination.
- You have a general understanding of plant biology and of the technical aspects of seed production.
- Your planning and self-organization skills are well developed.
- You have a constructive and supportive teamwork attitude.
- You are reliable and accurate and have strong safety awareness.
- You have also good interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Your computer skills include MS Office and BioMat.
- You are bilingual, English-Dutch.
