Senior Research Associate

Location: Johnston, Iowa, USA

DuPont Pioneer is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate in Johnston, Iowa.

This position manages information on field research resources needed for characterizing and developing traits. Main areas of responsibility include: working with project leaders to collect multiple-year planning information for seed production and/or field evaluation and characterization; summarizing and reporting potential resource demands; and refining plans to effectively meet changing demands for and/or availability of resources for field testing.

Other duties include:

  • Develop, refine and maintain simple but effective methods to collect, summarize and/or archive multiple-year plans and resource needs (1-5 years) for seed production and/or field testing of traits from individual projects within TCD;
  • Obtain periodic, regular input from TCD project teams on field resource needs for trait testing and related seed production needs, including other groups such as Regulatory and/or MPD as appropriate;
  • Develop meaningful summaries of projections, compared with relevant current and/or prior data as available;
  • Regularly communicate with appropriate Resource Planning Teams to exchange/develop resource planning information and key resource providers such as NRSP/Genetics Nursery and GMT planners to develop annual and multiple-year plans; and
  • Contribute to the development of any resource expansion and/or reallocation planning relative to budgeted changes in resources for field testing and/or seed production.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, agronomy, agricultural business or related field with 2-4 years of industry related experience required, or equivalent amounts of relevant education and experience.
  • Master's degree in related field and 0-2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Training in genetics is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with agricultural-related field trials, including at least two years of regulated trials.

Other qualifications include:

  • ability to work effectively within and across teams;
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across groups with diverse interests and priorities;
  • strong oral and written communication skills;
  • demonstrated computer proficiency including use of spreadsheets, database systems and/or GIS software to create, manage and analyze data sets from multiple sources; and
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
