Plant Breeder, Cereals

Location: Lincoln, Christchurch, New Zealand

Our Cereals and Services team conducts research and development along the plant breeding pipeline and forms part of our Breeding & Genomics portfolio which aims to combine traditional breeding with modern genomics techniques to develop better cultivars faster.

You will be responsible for developing a cereals research platform focused on genetic control investigations and germplasm enhancement for wheat productivity and quality traits in line with Industry and sector plans. You will be an important part of the wider Annual Crops Group, supporting senior scientists and helping to develop other staff and students. You are expected to maintain an appropriate scientific publishing record and develop a student supervisory role with domestic tertiary teaching facilities as opportunities arise.
 
You will have a relevant PhD, at least 10 years experience in managing field based crop breeding programmes and the ability to make a significant contribution to the translation of science to commercial benefit. You will also have experience and capabilities to lead and develop others, combined with advanced communication, interpersonal and relationship skills.
