Description

BioDiagnostics, Inc. is seeking an energetic and creative molecular biologist/plant breeder to manage the Molecular Breeding & Genomic Technologies Laboratory (MBGT). The MBGT Manager will be dedicated to providing the most advanced marker-assisted breeding tools to plant breeders worldwide. The essential tool kit will include the ability to provide sequencing, SNP-marker discovery, and marker library development; genotyping, genomic selection, and trait conversion solutions. The goal is to develop appropriate testing solutions for plant breeding applications in a diverse array of crops and consult with plant breeders to develop an appropriate approach to marker-assisted breeding. A key component of this effort will include the appropriate bioinformatics to drive the breeding program forward. The MBGT Manager will lead the sales effort for these services, meet with customers and develop plans to meet their specific needs. The MBGT Manager will oversee all testing within the lab as well as manage budget and staff. The ability to incorporate new technologies into the program will be an essential component of this position.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. Degree in molecular biology, plant breeding or related field.
• Demonstrated success in plant biotechnology, bioinformatics or similar field.
• Creativity, initiative, and self-motivation are essential for this position.
• Experience with staff management.
• Willingness to call potential customers to sell testing programs
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with robotics and high-throughput process design is a plus.
• A strong orientation to application-based research in a team-based work environment.
