General Description:

BioDiagnostics Inc. (BDI) is a leading provider of seed testing services serving the seed industry with customers worldwide. BioDiagnostics high quality employees use state-of-the-art DNA, protein and analytical chemistry-based technologies to help customers reduce time to market and produce high quality seed. The DNA QA Lab focuses on Adventitious Presence (AP) and zygosity testing for biotech traits of interest using various PCR-based methods. BDI is seeking an energetic scientist to supervise our DNA QA lab in a full-time, salaried position.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• The DNA QA Lab Supervisor will direct the activities and work conducted by other professional and seasonal staff. This includes oversight of the entire testing process from sample preparation through results reporting.
• The supervisor will process samples and conduct testing during peak sample volume times.
• The supervisor will be responsible for problem resolution for all aspects of the testing process.
• In addition, the supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the ISO17025 quality management system.
• The supervisor will ensure that test results are reported in a timely fashion and will consult with customers about test results.
• The supervisor will assist with employee evaluations and professional development for laboratory staff.
• The supervisor will be responsible for hiring and training new lab staff.

Desired Qualifications:

• MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related and five years of laboratory experience or BS and 10 years of laboratory experience.
• Previous experience managing people and complex, multi-step processes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience implementing a LIMS.
• Agricultural experience is preferred but not required.
