Job Summary:

The position involves DNA-Sequence analysis and the identification of novel DNA markers for applying in high throughput genome-wide genotyping technologies and mid-scale genotyping platforms. The Position holder will be responsible for developing molecular tools for Molecular Breeding.

This position will be based in Chiang Mai and will be reporting to the Biotechnology Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Selecting, designing and performing standard molecular marker assay for DNA genotyping
  • Developing and implementing and optimizing new molecular markers and genetic maps
  • Performing DNA sequence analysis
  • SNPs discovery and calling
  • Data Mining
  • Performing QTL analysis and mapping
  • Supporting and facilitating marker assisted breeding
  • Extended DNA-Sequence analysis and assay design
  • Support, guidance and training for Researchers and Breeders
  • Providing assistance to the Biotechnology Manager in technical fields and carrying out responsibilities as directed.
  • Supervision of assigned projects
  • Assisting and conducting trainings program for lab personnel

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Plant Breeding, Plant genetics, biotechnology or related fields
  • Practical Experience in Bioinformatics and sequence analysis
  • Ability to select, design and perform Standard molecular marker assay for DNA genotyping
  • Experience in molecular genetics, physical and genetic mapping
  • Experience in Perl and Bioperl are essential
  • Experience in DNA sequence analysis, primer design, gene cloning
  • Knowledge in plant genetics and Plant Breeding
  • Knowledge of statistical and analytical methods and software
  • Excellent English communication ability
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Assisting and conducting trainings program
