Advanta is seeking a highly motivated individual to become an integral member of a multidisciplinary India vegetable R&D team and the global Okra breeding programme. This is a superb opportunity to manage a breeding programme in collaboration with outstanding technology support functions to develop successful new products for India. As a breeder, you will have primary responsibilities for the development of improved okra hybrids and management of the early pre-commercial product pipeline for the targeted market segments. As a member of the India okra crop team, there will be direct interaction with the technology development and the commercial organizations ensuring that the breeding programme is aligned with the commercial objectives. The successful candidate will also manage, design, develop, and implement the Okra breeding research projects in collaboration with scientists in fields such as marker applications, pathology, and crop management.

We are looking for dynamic and result oriented Senior OKRA BREEDER for our Okra Research.

Desired profile and skills:

• M.Sc ( Ag) / Ph.D in plant breeding and Genetics with 15-20 years of relevant research experience particularly in okra breeding, in seed industry.
• Need to be a team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to travel extensively.
• Passion for research and sound knowledge in crop breeding procedures with demonstrated ability to use statistical packages.
• Need to be self motivated with good communication ability.
• Good knowledge of agricultural production systems and on the application of molecular tools in breeding programs.
• Should be strong on concepts / strategy
• Evidence of strong products in the market.

Desired Skills / Experience:

• Minimum eight years of working experience in plant breeding/genetics. Knowledge of quantitative genetics, functional genomics, genetic statistical theory, and experimental design as applied to plant breeding.
• Vegetable crop/okra research experience.
