American Takii Inc. is the North American subsidiary of Takii & Company Ltd, Japan. Takii & Co is one of the world’s leading flower and vegetable seed breeders, producers and marketers. We are currently seeking a Technical Sales Manager to work in the NE US/SE Canada. We are looking for a motivated and responsible individual with sales, promotion and product development experience in vegetables (particularly Long Day Onions) to perform the following:

• Manage vegetable seed sales to American Takii’s Seed Dealer Network in the NE US, SE Canada and to a lesser degree in the SE US
• Make timely sales calls to regional seed dealers and their sales teams, take seed orders and provide timely technical support
• Contract seed bookings with dealers and forecast varieties for future production
• Develop relationships with local growers and promote Takii products
• Initiate trials for all Takii product lines in major commercial growing areas. Evaluate new products for agronomic performance and market acceptance. Report trial results to Sales and Research Departments on a timely basis
• Provide support to breeders for new product screening of experimental varieties
• Develop sales and marketing strategies to support the regional dealers and create sales growth in the region
• Organize field days, grower/dealer meetings and promotional events for Takii products
• Attend regional and national grower/produce marketing conventions to build industry relationships, promote Takii products and gather market information
• Follow through with product complaints and recommend timely resolution strategies

This position reports to the Technical Sales Manager and works closely with Customer Service and Marketing.

The candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

• BS or BA in Agricultural Science or Agricultural Management/Marketing.
• Minimum 5 years work experience in commercial vegetable seed sales. Experience in commercial vegetable production desirable.
• Fluent English speaker with good communications skills. French language ability a plus.
• Clean driving record with valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency with MSN Office 2007 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point).
• Eligible to reside and work in the United States and Canada.
• Good working relationships with seed dealers and growers in the region
