International Sales Manager
Location: USA Our corporate office, based in the United States, is looking for an International Sales Manager to develop American Star Seeds (AMSS) business in selected countries (i.e. Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia). He will introduce new varieties and realize sales according to the crops and the area strategy to realize a long term profitability and partnership with customers. He will be responsible for developing and analyzing agriculture and biotech market data to support and drive market knowledge and business development of AMSS. While working independently, this individual will remain in close contact with the company President. He will be the expert on gathering and understanding of market data around customers, products, crops and competitors, and will work alongside the Operation Manager to serve as a key point of contact for suppliers and customers. You are the most important link between breeders, our commercial crop, and Northern Africa. Your knowledge of crops and your vision in the market developments give you an important voice in decision making and strategy development.
Job Purpose:
Introduce new varieties and realize sales according with the crops and the area strategy to realize a long term profitability and partnership with customers.
Your main responsibilities:
- Identify and contact prospective customers, create new accounts/clients, promote sales and provide services to existing customers ensuring quality and consistency of service.
- Develop territory business plan and implement an action plan to achieve assigned targets consistent with the sales marketing plan.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and conventions, participate in research projects as needed, provide market data and research support for development of product concepts.
- Responsible for setting up AMSS product catalogue, and determine opportunities for growth both in new markets and existing segments.
- Define sales and production forecasts and manage our network or suppliers
- Enhance sales, optimize our product portfolio, propose improvements to the distribution strategy and manage the network of distributors. You are in charge of a team of local promoters who will assist you in your mission. You define and propose a sales plan and manage customer relations towards customer satisfaction, including orders, follow-up, sales contacts and variety registrations.
Your background and knowledge will include:
- Consultative selling and negotiation skills
- Strategic and tactical business planning processes
- Key account function and business management
- Performance in a vegetable seed sales role and can communicate with impact, both with stakeholders as well as customers and collaborate across boundaries.
- Consultative sales experience and the ability to uncover customer needs.
- Proven track record of successful agricultural sales.
Education requirements and other qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/Business
- Knowledge of Agriculture Sector
- An agriculture background and vegetable seeds business is preferred
- Must have 5 years experience as international sales manager
- Must have the ability to respond to deadlines and gather technical data, compile information and prepare reports.
- Experience building presentations and reports based on data analysis
- Strong analytical thinking skills, influencing skills, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a strong team environment.
- Ability to travel extensively (50% – 70% of the time), travel experience and knowledge in the hybrid seed industry preferred
- The ability to work independently, possibly from home
- Comprehensive cultural understanding of the assigned area
- Analytical, independent, flexible, ethical, competitive, self motivated, and goal oriented
- Fluency in English and French is preferred. Arabic language useful
- Must be able to legally work in the United States
