Senior Process Engineer
Location: Sparks, Georgia, USA DESCRIPTION:
BASF's Sparks, Georgia Site is a leading producer of agricultural chemicals including fungicides and insecticides.
The Senior Process Engineer will lead process engineering and chemical production technical efforts for the Sparks site. The Senior Process Engineer will also lead new product scale-ups and process engineering optimization efforts for the site to achieve its objectives for safety, quality, efficiency, and capability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead process optimization efforts in the production department to meet targets for safety, quality, efficiency, and capability
- Lead the new product scale-up efforts for the Sparks site to ensure all timelines, EHS standards, quality standards, and efficiency targets are met
- Serve as the site primary technical resource for chemical manufacturing processes and unit operations
- Lead and participate in project technical reviews, step reviews, audits, and HAZOP studies
- Evaluate, analyze, optimize, and implement processes using quality and statistical analysis tools such as design of experiments and statistical process control
- Identify, recommend, and implement new technologies for the chemical manufacturing processes
- Monitor operations on a daily/weekly basis, reviewing KPIs, operating logs, trends, quality, and other sources of data to ensure reliable, consistent, and cost effective operations
- Design and implement new processes and equipment upgrades
- Lead small capital projects related to process engineering to support plant improvements
QUALIFICATIONS:
BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
REQUIRED:
- BS Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 15 years hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing operations, with a broad understanding of chemical processes and unit operations
- Strong computer capabilities including Microsoft Office and Minitab or JMP
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, and to build relationships with individuals at multiple levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams
- Strong technical and problem-solving ability
- Experience in process troubleshooting and process improvement required
PREDERRED:
- Demonstrated ability to lead capital projects with a spend of < $300k
- SAP knowledge and capability
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training and certification
