Monsanto's Vegetable Seeds Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Crop Specialist role in the Foundation Seed department.  The Crop Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining high quality parental seed for the duration of the product's life cycle.  The Crop Specialist will gather and share information with team members from across functions, including Breeding, Breeding Technology, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance.  The successful candidate will be detail oriented with good organizational, communication and human relation skills.
 
Responsibilities include:

• Maintain adequate inventories of FS for responsible crops using all available system tools
• Maintain accurate records of FS increases including inventory, purity, and disease testing
• Interact with plant breeders for technical support and advancement of new parent lines
• Work with Supply Chain department and Quality Assurance department to be aware of inventory position and quality of seed being used
• Review proposed product business case (PBC) and determine whether or not parental lines are in place; communicate to the advancement committee if there are no restrictions or comment on conditions for advancement
• Serve on Crop Team or other high level committee
• Effectively prepare and present FS information in formal and/or informal meetings

Required Skills/Experience:

• B.S. in a scientific discipline
• Four + years relevant experience
• Physically capable of working in field situations
• Ability to supervise large labor crews
• Able to read, write and speak fluent English

Desired Skills/Experience:

• M.S. in a scientific discipline
• Experience and/or coursework in genetics
• Farming or crop production background
