Location: Delley, Switzerland SEMILLAS FITO is a multinational seed company established in 1880, with a clear landmark in the Mediterranean basin, Middle East and Latin America. DSP is a SME with breeding, production, licensing and sales activities. Founded in 1994, DSP is owned by the Swiss seed growers. DSP maize varieties are commercialized in Switzerland and in middle/northern EU-countries like France and Germany. In addition to maize, DSP has a close collaboration with the public research stations Agroscope on wheat, triticale, soybean and a broad range of forage species
The two companies together are looking for 1 ambitious and creative breeder to lead our common breeding activities in maize.
Job Description
- Work located in Delley (Switzerland) with projection in France and in close connection with the commercial teams to promote varieties and organize successfulmarket introductions.
- Design strategy and execute breeding projects to develop varieties for France and Northern and Central Europe countries.
- Establish, evaluate and follow trials in order to collect information for the breeding.
- Identify promising results from different fields of research and integrate them in the breeding program
- Propose and inform the management on long and short term crop specific breeding strategy as well as participate in development activities of specific crop strategic plans
- Translate market requirements and future needs along with Marketing and Sales into breeding goals to produce new products
Experience and skills:
- At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in breeding
- Team player
- Organization and planning
- Computer skills (data management, management information systems, databases, spread sheets, statistical software)
- Language skills: Fluent French and English required. Spanish and German desirables
- Excellent communication skills
- Functional Competencies: analytical thinking, convincing, solving problems, innovation, good relational intercultural skills, entrepreneurship and practical attitude
Required conditions:
- Hold a degree in Agricultural Engineer or similar
- To have driving license
- Willing to travel abroad
