West US Biomass Research Manager

Chromatin, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary Biomass Research Team across the US.
This position will report to the Director of Biomass Production Research and will support biomass/feedstock research production, including biomass harvesting, drying, and transportation. The Biomass Research Manager will administer quality assurance and control, safety, and standard operating procedures.
The successful candidate will work with leading edge technology and talented cross-functional scientists seeking to deliver timely and high-quality feedstock to customers.
Responsibilities to include:
- Coordinate and execute field testing programs to support all phases of biomass production, from field to customer.
- Maintain company equipment.
- Lead and improve safety program implementation.
- Interact with scientists for project-related needs.
- Support the Company’s breeding and seed groups as required.
- Supervise field labor to ensure their safe work environment and protocol adherence
Desired skills & experience
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Physiology or related field and at least 3 years of work experience within an agronomic research environment.
- Leadership skills, including excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multicultural research team setting, make decisions, and effectively solve problems.
- Knowledge of crop production, farming practices, and farm equipment operation and repair.
- Familiarity with field research methodologies, experimental plot design, and statistics.
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills.
- Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- If not already obtained, the ability to obtain a Class A CDL, a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License, and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Certification.
The position may require physical activity, including pushing or lifting up to 70 pounds,and overnight travel.
