POSITION:
Research Associate I position in the area of plant feedstock cultivar development research
LOCATION:
Department of Plant Sciences, 2431 Joe Johnson Drive, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN 37996-4561.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Basic responsibility of this position will be to assist the principal investigator in implementation of cultivar development research projects on switchgrass and other potential feedstock crops. The duties include field preparation, design and layout of experiments, planting and management of field nurseries, data collection, entry and analysis, plant care in the greenhouse, management of laboratory research and other activities as assigned by the supervisor. He or she will work in close collaboration with graduate students and supervise hourly employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in Agricultural Science in Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, or related discipline.
- Strong written and oral communication skills along with the ability to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team environment are required.
- Experiences in plant breeding, statistical procedures, management of field and greenhouse experiments and basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety are desirable.
