Permanent Corn Trait Discovery Project Leader
Location: Chappes (63), France Biogemma is a leading European plant biotech company based in France, dedicated to research in genetics and genomics in field crops, for the improvement of native traits and the development of GM.
Role purpose:
Join the Genomic and Genetic Research Group, and lead the development and the management of internal and external projects, focused on several key agronomic traits in corn such as drought tolerance or nitrogen use efficiency. You will be immersed in a multidisciplinary environment, where collaboration and search for innovation are crucial and permanent.
Primary responsibilities:
- Design, implement and complete gene discovery projects in corn for the traits of interest;
- Lead QTL and LD mapping strategies in corn;
- Lead efforts to follow up collaborative research projects and integrate external research data adapted to our business model;
- Manage a team;
- Interact with other groups within or outside the company: breeders, collaborative groups in the academic research.
Qualifications:
- PhD in quantitative genetics or plant breeding with experience in quantitative traits genetic dissection;
- Experience in QTL mapping and cloning and in association mapping.
Required skills:
- Excellent statistics and quantitative genetics backgrounds;
- Skills in programming statistical computations and graphics with the R language;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to manage a multidisciplinary team and projects;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French or/ and English.
Besides, a solid background in corn Plant Physiology is highly desired.
