The primary responsibility of this position is to manage all trait integration activities of transgenic trait development programs of rice including introgression of both trait and traits events into a diverse set of rice inbreds,  The position will also manage and support inbred and hybrid seed production for subsequent use in a variety of research and development activities.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively in an interactive cross disciplinary team environment to insure the smooth and timely production of converted lines and hybrids as they advance from the laboratory to the field. 

 Duties and Responsibilities

• Primary role in planning and coordinating all activities related to rice transgenic trait introgression and seed production for green house and field evaluations.
• Ensure timely production and hand off of seed materials from Trait Integration to downstream customers following strict quality and stewardship guidelines.
• Align workflow with internal partners to allow timely flow of materials through the advancement pipeline.
• Implement and monitor safe working practices including alignment of procedures with all regulatory, stewardship and bio-safety requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience

Strong working knowledge of rice breeding and trait integration programs preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead trait integration and seed production in both green house and contained field environments.

• Strong working knowledge of molecular markers and marker assisted selection in rice.
• Demonstrated project leadership  and management experience is critical.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance the needs of multiple projects.
• Ability to lead and work within multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
• Good oral and written communication skills both biologists and breeders.

Educational Qualification

PhD in plant breeding with specialization in rice, with 5-10 years of experience preferably in an industrial setting, or equivalent amounts of relevant education and work experience preferably in an industrial setting.
