For the Company’s activities in vegetables we seek a Head, Trait Exploration & Discovery (full time)

The objective of this position is to lead a multidisciplinary and international team of experts aiming at identifying novel (combinations of) traits and making them available for the breeding process. You are based at one of the R&D sites of Nickerson-Zwaan in The Netherlands and you report to the Head of Breeding Technology of Nickerson-Zwaan. Functional relationships extend into the Limagrain Group towards trait/domain/crop co-ordinators of Limagrain’s Vegetable Seed Division.

Your tasks & responsibilities:

• Provide direct and functional leadership to experts within the fields of plant pathology, entomology, plant metabolomics, plant physiology and pre-breeding
• Strengthen the knowledge base of the team within the afore mentioned fields and expand our freedom-to-operate and intellectual property position
• Initiate and lead multidisciplinary programs aimed at innovation of hybrids and innovation of the hybrid development process
• Maintain, build and leverage internal and external networks to support timely delivery of business goals

Your profile:

• PhD in any of the above mentioned fields or related ones within the Life Sciences
• Proven leadership skills, future-vision based with business objective orientation
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent command of the English language
