The Quality Control group plays a vital role in the company's overall Quality System assessing how well materials match product specification and quality standards.
The candidate will work in the Quality Control laboratory at BASF Plant Science in a team performing various Molecular Biology techniques. This will include tasks like DNA extractions from plant tissue (manual extractions as well as using robotics), analysis by PCR (conventional as well as real-time PCR) and data interpretation, plasmid purification and Restriction Digest Analysis. The responsibilities will also include trouble shooting, preparation of raw and analyzed results (reports) for delivery to clients and communication of results in a form suitable to other laboratory personnel. It is also expected of the person in this role to help improve the quality of the existing laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) for performed tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Molecular Biology or related field with 3 years of Biology or Chemistry Lab experience
- Extensive hands on experience in preparing tissues and samples for DNA extraction as well as performing DNA extraction from various tissues
- Experience in sequence analysis
- Strong skills in work management
- Detail and accuracy oriented
- Excellent record keeping (electronic and hard copy) and performance of experiments according to guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Strong teamwork and customer focus skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Solid knowledge and experience of realtime PCR and taqman assay development, validation and execution
- Solid experience working in Quality Control or a GMP/GLP or ISO environment
- Knowledge or experience in testing seed material for genetic purity and adventitious presence
- Automation and advanced data-handling experience
