The BPS Quality Assurance Field Associate is responsible for assuring adherence to BPS standards for technical quality, regulatory compliance, and responsible care in a field trial and seed production program located in the corn and soybean growing regions of the Midwest. The Quality Assurance Field Associate will monitor, instruct and support Company and contract personnel in these areas and create documents and reports as part of a comprehensive Quality Management System. The work is centered in Ames, Iowa, with responsibilities extending throughout the central US corn belt. It is preferable the incumbent reside in Ames, Iowa however Weldon, Illinois, Estherville, Iowa or Olivia, Minnesota are also acceptable locations.
Travel will be extensive throughout the central US corn belt during the growing season, with occasional national travel outside the region.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- M.S. degree in applied agronomy (in the field of crop production or plant breeding), or plant biotechnology (with experience in field studies), or a closely related field with 4 years experience or BS degree in same with 7 years field experience
- Demonstrated understanding of agronomic principles,
- Cross-functional communication, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to meet goals and to attain the desired results, often under time pressure and in a fast changing environment
- Fluent in English, with good writing skills
DESIRED:
- Experience with field studies of genetically modified plants, especially rice
- Experience with QM/QA programs
- Demonstrated experience in handling crisis situations to achieve positive outcomes
- Awareness of underlying key scientific, regulatory, and legal, public policy and technology acceptance issues for genetically modified crops, with broad Biotechnology industry knowledge
- Ability to communicate in Spanish
