LFC’s Research and Development Division is located in Estero, FL in close proximity to the Naples/Fort Myers metropolitan area. We have an immediate opening for a Seed Stock & Quality Assurance Specialist in our tomato R&D program. This position will be responsible to plan and execute all facets of foundation and stock seed increases. In addition, the position will assume primary responsibility for all seed related quality assurance testing activities related to LFC’s proprietary tomato hybrids and parents.
The ability to travel both domestically and internationally is essential. Employee will interact with LFC operations staff and third party production and QA contractors.
The qualified candidate should possess both training and direct experience in the areas of seed multiplication and seed testing. Candidates should also be familiar with general principles of tomato seedling and field production techniques. A B.S. or M.S. degree in Seed Technology/Multiplication, Seed Quality Assurance, Horticulture, Plant Science, Breeding or similar discipline is preferred; however, those with closely aligned seed industry level qualifications may also apply. Training in plant/seed pathology, agricultural QA testing, seed multiplication/processing, seed germination, and breeding/genetic techniques is desirable. Strong computer, organizational and leadership skills are keys for success. Must be able to live and work full-time in the U.S. with ability to travel globally without restrictions. Bilingual skills (Spanish/English and/or Chinese/English) are important. LFC offers a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.
