Oilseed Breeding Station Leader

Location: Abed, Denmark

Job Description

Leader of the Dow AgroSciences Winter Oilseed Breeding Station in Denmark and the rape di-haploid production.

  

Standard Working hours:

37.5

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of Winter Oilseed rape dihaploid plants to feed the European Winter Oilseed rape program in coordination with the European breeders (creation of new competitive germplasm)
  • Implement state of the art technology for the germplasm development program, including marker assisted breeding.
  • Take lead on specific WOSR rape breeding projects as required in addition to di-haploid production.
  • Coordinate the Oilseed rape seeds preparation and shipment across Europe for breeding and development purposes.
  • Provide administrative leadership to the station, including management of the field, glasshouse and laboratory biologists, definition of capital investment and management of expenses.
  • Promote safe work environment and ensure the implementation of the Dow AgroSciences Environment, Health and Safety culture on the site
  • Act as local liaison leader for Denmark based collaborative research projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in breeding preferred (PhD in plant breeding or master degree with 3 to 5 years experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead field station biologists (full time and part time).
  • Practical experience in advanced breeding techniques such as di haploid production and marker assisted breeding.
  • Good communication in English and any other European language.
  • Advanced statistical knowledge
