Key Account Sales Representative

Location: Winslow, Maine, USA

Summary

Johnny’s Selected Seeds, a leader in the Commercial Seed Industry, is seeking a full time, year round Key Account Sales Representative. This representative will be responsible for all sales activities in assigned accounts or regions, manage targeted margins and goals, while providing market and technical product information leading to customer loyalty and repeat business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Present and sell company products to current and potential clients.
  2. Engage in business planning and long term development with clients; build strong relationships with key decision makers.
  3. Develop and implement an Annual Sales Plan.
  4. Monitor and become knowledgeable of specific geographic trends affecting the sales territory and develop strategies to increase sales accordingly.
  5. Identify sales prospects and contact these and other accounts as assigned (Prospecting Plan).
  6. Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts.
  7. Develop and maintain industry and current product knowledge.
  8. Assist with product development, pricing and forecasting.
  9. Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
  10. Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.
  11. Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following attributes/experience:

  1. 5-7 years proven track record of building long-term relationships and closing deals with all levels of an organization including executive level.
  2. Horticultural or Business degree preferred.
  3. Possess strong business acumen.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  5. Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational abilities and experience.
  6. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  7. Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  8. Proficiency with PC’s, Microsoft Office products and Sales Management Software.
  9. Maintain a professional appearance and provide a positive company image to the public.
  10. Work requires occasional overnight travel such as visits to current and potential clients and trade shows.
