Summary and Responsibilities:
The Production team is seeking a highly skilled and eager individual to join our team as a Corn Production Technician. This position will primarily focus on field activities and processing areas and will be responsible for operating equipment, leveraging data collection to maximize existing procedures, as well as growing and managing regulated corn production with emphasis on adhering to all requirements. Additionally, the production technician will assist with handling storage, receiving, shipping, equipment maintenance, and ensuring safe operation at the field and site locations. The ideal candidate will be safety and quality focused with a passion for process improvement, and highly collaborative.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively and efficiently grow and manage corn production under regulated conditions, operating equipment including field equipment, seed and grain handling equipment, unloading and loading semi-trailers, packaging, and warehouse equipment.
- Conduct field visits collecting data and recording activities maintained, while keeping records well organized.
- Responsible for general maintenance of site and production equipment.
- Maintain a safe and collaborative working environment.
- Ability to operate computer and applicable systems.
- Available to work extended hours during peak times, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or higher.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production operations in an agricultural setting, including maintenance and field management.
- Experience in regulated or stewardship seed production.
- Forklift operator certification and experience.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance; successfully pass a motor vehicle records check.
- Ability to work in the following settings with or without reasonable accommodations: agricultural environment including outdoors in varying weather conditions, production setting including standing or sitting for extended periods of time, ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience growing crops, with emphasis on corn seed and grain under regulated conditions.
- Ability to muti-task and balance projects at various stages simultaneously
- Safety leadership.
- Quality focus with ISO documentation experience.
- Proven ability to be self-directed and work independently. Ability to work positively with a team.
- Previous experience or familiarity with working in a start-up environment.
