Principal Scientist, Yield Trait Team

JOB DESCRIPTION
- The Principal Scientist will be a leading member of the Yield Trait team and will be responsible for analysis and reporting of transgene performance data related to yield in cereal crops.
- Analysis includes yield-related, physiological and agronomic traits from field trials, controlled growth environments, and multiple profiling technologies.
- Additional responsibilities include designing new experiments and proposing the testing of transgenes in crops.
- Will participate on an Yield Trait Team as a scientific expert on yield and other agronomic components in corn, rice and wheat.
- Responsible for coordination of trait strategies and scientific research plans.
- Will contribute to the development of IP filings.
- Will interact with other teams in the Yield/Stress Project.
- Will interact with the external scientific community for technology scouting and technology internalization.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Plant Breeding, or related discipline with at least 6 years of post-Phd research experience -OR- MS degree in Agronomy, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Plant Breeding, or related discipline with at least 10 years of post-MS research experience -OR- BS in Agronomy, Plant Biology, Plant Physiology, Plant Breeding, or related discipline with at least 13 years of post-BS research experience
- 6 years industry/academic experience in plant physiology or agronomy related to cereal crops.
- 6 years industry/academic experience in analysis of field trial data from corn or other cereal crop.
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills
PREFERENCES:
- Field experience in analysis of yield in corn, rice or wheat
- Working knowledge of farming best practices and seed technologies
- Experience in designing and executing field studies and statistical analysis of field data
- Experience in statistical analysis of profiling data
