The Plant Breeding Technician is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Kraft Heinz Agriculture Research and Development team in Stockton, California. The role primarily works in an outdoor farming environment supporting tomato Research and Breeding program, with some time spent in a greenhouse and seed room setting.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate in activities related to seed savings, weighing, packaging, and overall organization.
• Assist with transplanting for research and grower trials.
• Hand harvesting research plots as needed.
• Perform pollinations in field and greenhouse settings.
• Supervise and facilitate data collecting in a field setting.
• Complete data entry on computer as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• High school or above diploma
• California driver’s license
• Previous experience in agriculture research or tomato production experience is desirable
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common PC-based software preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication
• Attention to detail – ability to identify patterns, cross-check numbers and follow instructions
• Capability to spend long hours in the field/on the farm during tomato season
• Ability to safely lift 40 pounds; comfort with walking on unpaved ground and uneven tomato field ability to bend, kneel, squat as needed to collect data in fields;
• Travel: <10% March – October
