Laboratory Research Associate and Data Analyst
Location: Monterey, California, USA MultiPlex Laboratores LLC, a genotyping company, provides services for breeding companies and public breeders. MultiPlex LLC seeks to hire a motivated individual for laboratory experiments and data analysis. We are located in Monterey, California.
Position Summary:
- The successful candidate will use Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) based genomic tools to identify molecular markers through genotyping by sequencing. In addition, the candidate should be able to write reports for clients' projects and support them after data delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Targeted sequence capture or amplicon sequencing library construction.
- Design SNP panels in multiple crops.
- Running in-house proprietary or commercially available assays and multiplexing design tools.
- Contribute to the evolution and optimization of information flow systems: from sample intake, tracking, and reporting results to answering customer questions.
- Use publically available bioinformatics tools and software and implement novel approaches in-house for large data analysis.
- Consult with researchers to analyze problems, recommend technology-based solutions, or determine computational strategies.
- Assisting with implementation of protocols, methods and techniques.
- Professional, assertive and clear communication skills (verbal and written).
- Shows personal initiative, is flexible and pragmatic, and able to portray and promote a positive image of the company’s vision, mission and values. Performs the job / duties independently as much as possible.
- The candidate must be familiar with DNA and RNA isolation, qualitative and quantitative PCR, NGS library construction, basic Linux, Perl, Python, MySQL scripting, Amazon AWS, Slurm Workload Manager, or similar cluster computing or HPC systems. In addition, experience with phylogenomic, evolutionary, and comparative genomics would be a plus.
Minimum Requirements:
- MSc or Ph.D. in Molecular biology with two years of experience in computational biology.
- Work experience in next-generation sequencing data analysis.
- Being flexible to work extra hours/during the weekends if needed.
- Being able to relocate to Monterey, California or its vicinity.
- Being able to lift 20-30 lbs of load.
- Have a valid US driver's license.
- Must be able to work in the USA legally.
