Market Research Analyst

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA

DESCRIPTION:
 
Located in Research Triangle Park, NC the Market Research Analyst will join a newly formed team to facilitate bringing the BASF Plant Science LP traits to the market place. The Analyst will report to the Director, Strategic Marketing and will be responsible for analyzing market data by customers, products, crops and competitors, and serve as a point of contact for other parties involved in the strategic planning proecess to provide reports designed to concisely and cleary convey accurate and timely information to business operations.  The Analyst  will also support the Strategic Marketing Managers and the Partner Managment group to ensure an accurate understanding of the trends in crops and traits.. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Gather and analyze data from a variety of public and internal sources to assist in market research projects.  Deliver accurate information in a timely fashion to business, project management and legal teams
  • Monitor trait partners' industry trend and participate in research projects as needed, provide data and research support for product concept development
  • Remain current with reviews of select industry trade journals and periodicals to enhance industry knowledge and understanding
  • Alert the Director to possible topics of interest based on research efforts, and consistently deliver on-time, complete and accurate projects as determined by the senior manager
  • Work with crop strategy managers to design and administer methodologically correct surveys, report on survey results that will fulfill business needs Assist in the summarization of the data based on the aforementioned surveys/projects
  • Construct databases using MS Access (including tables, quieries, macros) or Excel, develop documentation and procedures in relation to trait technology partners
  • Coordinate with market research teams in BASF Corporation Business Excellence group and other business units (e.g. AP) to develop benchmarking, market intelligence and research

QUALIFICATIONS:

BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
 
REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Ag Business or related field with 4 years of cumulative market research and analysis experience in the agricultural industry.  BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
  • Experience building databases and conducting market data analysis
  • Experience building presentations and reports based on data analysis
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, influencing skills, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a strong team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with good command of contemporary written and audiovisual tools such as Microsoft Access, Excel and Office Suite software
  • Must be a highly motivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities

PREFERRED:

  • MBA
  • Prior experience in Agriculture biotech marketing / sales role
  • Sales, marketing or other similar roles in the agricultural industry, in addition to market research and/or analysis
