DESCRIPTION
Located in Research Triangle Park, NC the Strategic Marketing Manager will join a newly formed team to facilitate bringing the BASF Plant Science LP traits to the market place. The Manager will report to the Director, Strategic Marketing and will be responsible for building in-depth business plans for new opportunities and support their implementation in various stages. The manager will also support the Partner Management group to ensure an accurate understanding of the trends in crops and traits, and specific tactical plans. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Establish and evaluate short term and long term strategic marketing plan of key crops and technology to achieve marketing objectives of BASF plant science
- Profile/understand key crop trends, uses and the associated value chain and create business case for new product concept development
- Develop and plan partner and market strategies to create new strategic market opportunities for the business
- Initiate new technology and market trend reviews and identify leading technology providers
- As a business team member, provide support for crop and product tactical issues such as pricing forecast, registration, technical development, and value capture methodology, etc. for new projects
- Support management in crop analysis, forecast and planning, especially from market perspectives

QUALIFICATIONS
BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Ag Business or related field with 10 years of cumulative experience including sales, marketing, strategic planning and other similar roles in the agricultural industry
- Experience building, presenting and defending business plans
- Strong understanding of value chain and partnership concepts
- Strong leadership and influencing skills, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a strong team environment
- Excellent communication skills, with good command of contemporary written and audiovisual tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, and Office Suite software
- Must be a highly motivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities
PREFERRED:
- MBA
- Prior experience in Agriculture biotech marketing / sales role
- Prior experience in a role with global responsibilities
- Technical or science background in agriculture, seed and/or plant biotechnology
