Laboratory Project Manager (M/F)
Location: Amman, Jordan
Full time, permanent position.
Context
Sakata Vegetables Europe is a subsidiary of Sakata Seed Corporation (Japan) is responsible for the development and expansion of the activities across the EMEA area. With our wide array of vegetable seeds, we want to create a confidence-based relationship with our customers though our motto of Quality, Reliability and Service.
Missions
Under the management of the Head of research laboratories EMEA, based in South Africa the position holder will work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment and will be in charge to manage all laboratory activities in Jordan. The main responsibilities will include:
- Implementation, planning and execution of disease resistance screening by greenhouse or field inoculation trials across the Jordan trial stations.
- Performing diagnostic work to identify and eliminate risks associated with pests and plant pathogens.
- Performing various serological and plant pathology techniques to ensure that the local breeding programs remains free from seed transmissible pathogens.
- Implementing, managing, and executing phytosanitary risk management processes on the Sakata middle east trial stations.
- Supporting local molecular biology and cellular biology activities.
- Close interaction with stakeholders, local and international breeders to support the EMEA breeding programs.
- Support the Quality System Manager by compiling quality system documents related to phytosanitary risk management and inoculation protocols.
- Analyze, interpret, and report results to relevant employees.
Profile
- We are searching for a hands-on candidate with a master’s degree in plant biology / plant pathology / plant genetics/ or related discipline with preferable 2-5 years’ work experience in the seed industry.
- Experience in applied plant pathology, experimental and statistical techniques will be required.
- The position requires strong organizational and analytical skills as well and a strong ability to deal with an international environment.
- The position holder needs to be autonomous, reliable, a good sense of service and being able to deal with deadlines are essential.
- To succeed in this position, it is essential to know how to communicate in a multicultural context and have a very good level of English, both written and spoken.
