Plant Operations Superintendent, Seed Operations

Location: Dayton, Washington, USA

As an Operations Superintendent you will be responsible for assisting the Site Manager with all facets of operations.  The Operations Superintendent position actively participates in operational, quality, cost and reliability initiatives. This position also plays a vital leadership role in on-site safety programs, documentation and reporting, safety inspections and promoting the Seneca Foods site safety culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Seed receiving
  • Cleaning & conditioning seed
  • Treating and packaging seed
  • Staffing, training, scheduling for full time and seasonal temporary labor
  • Developing and maintaining a well-motivated team
  • Coordinating and planning customer seed orders, inventory management, trade and compliance, seed conditioning, and seed shipping to ensure on time completion of customer orders
  • Inventory audits and ordering supplies
  • Managing a department budget
  • Ensure that GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices), safety rules and regulations are being followed and consistently enforced.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of prior Management or Supervision experience in a manufacturing or warehousing environment with a demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team while building morale while meeting established goals & objectives.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) along with good interpersonal skills and the ability to take action and make decisions while exhibiting good judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
  • Desired qualifications and skills include: Bachelor's Degree in Ag Business / Business (or related areas) along with prior experience in the Seed Industry.
  • Ability to work weekends and various shifts during seasonal peak needs
