POSITION SUMMARY

To support and assist the Large Seed Production Research Manager with production research activities, to resolve production challenges and to develop methods, techniques, and strategies for improving production methods and seed quality.

Responsible for assisting the Large Seed Production Research Manager in planning and executing projects and field trials to improve producibility and seed quality of the large seed species produced in the Pacific Northwest. Maintain close communication and collaboration with production, breeding, growers, and other shareholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES

Under direction of Large Seed Production Research Manager, organize and manage sweet corn and bean trials.

• Lead organizing and preparing seed for trials.
• Monitor trial growth, assist in cultural care, direct field crews, and maintain trial plots.
• Collect data, and maintain detailed notes, to assist with parent line characterization
• Prepare plot books, apply treatments, manage safety and related trainings.
• Assist with and direct harvest activities, manage labor crews.
• Process post-harvest samples and distribute to testing lab, data entry.
• Assist in data organization, analysis & distribution of presentations.
• Assist in off-site trials as needed.
• All other tasks/projects as assigned.

• Spanish speaking is a plus

Job requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• B.S. in Agriculture or related field (Ag Research preferred)
• 1-2 years of crop production experience preferred
• Seed production industry experience preferred.
• Idaho State Pesticide Applicators license preferred.
• Must have and maintain clean driving record.
