Applied Researcher Plant Cell Biology

Your contribution
You will contribute from the Cell Biology department to accelerating the breeding of our potato varieties. We do this with existing, new and innovative breeding techniques. By applied research, project management, process optimization and supervising the Technician and Assistants in the team, you help the department to further structure and grow. Specifically, you will have the following main tasks:

• Develop, implement new protocols and optimize existing protocols.
• Keeping up to date with relevant literature.
• Project management. You are able to manage projects, give them structure and communicate clearly with the project team, your supervisor and the breeding department.
• Process optimization. You are able to analyse processes and are able to make improvements.
• Supervising the Technician and Assistants and taking an active, leading role in the team.
• Building / maintaining contacts with universities and research institutes, visiting relevant symposia.

Your profile
Are you currently working in a position as (Research) Technician and would you like to grow into a position as Researcher? Then this is your chance! In this position you combine your practical approach and skills with the execution of applied research projects.
Furthermore you recognize yourself in the following profile:

• You have gained work experience in plant cell biology (e.g. as a Technician or in a similar applied research position).
• You have a relevant education preferably at Bachelor or Master level.
• You have several years of working experience in plant cell biology (cell isolation techniques, plant regeneration and propagation).
• You have affinity with project management and process optimization.
• You have knowledge of molecular biology and genetics.
• You have a good command (oral and written) of the Dutch and English languages.
