Located in Sycamore, Illinois, the Data Management Associate will be part of the IT & BI (Bioinformatics) staff of BPS in North America.
The Data Management Associate's primary responsibility will be to assist in supporting the software used by the field groups of BPS for plant nurseries and field trials. Tasks related to the software will involve, but are not limited to, responding to questions, testing changes/updates, helping to create and maintain documentation, performing designated administrative functions, helping with training of users and aiding in day-to-day processes. The Data Management Associate may be requested to perform testing and documentation functions involving other applications within the BPS/IT group, as well as participate in other IT or BI related groups/projects. This may require travel to meetings and/or seminars.
Qualifications
Required:
- BS degree in Agronomy, Computer Science, or a closely related field + 3 years experience in plant breeding, using and/or supporting users of agricultural software -OR-AS degree in Agronomy, Computer Science, or a closely related field + 7 years experience in plant breeding, using and/or supporting users of agricultural software.
- Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability and willingness to handle confidential information and data
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high degree of detailed attentiveness
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work to meet day-to-day, short term and long term requirements
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of the breeding software, PRISM, from CSSI
- Strong knowledge and skills in use of Microsoft Excel
