Job Responsibility:

• Candidate will be responsible for the Advanta India Sorghum breeding program, including delivering products meeting the targets of the business in designated markets.
• Helping the crop leadership team to develop the breeding strategy for the crop.
• Execute the strategies by running efficient operations within the approved budgets.
• Incorporate desired traits in new products through back cross breeding using speed to market tools like DH and molecular markers.
• Monitor the multi-location early generation trialing & develop efficient processes for evaluating pipeline hybrids within and external to India.
• Ensure quality processes to achieve targets in a timely & efficient manner.
• Train the staff to carry out targeted tasks efficiently.

Education Qualification:

• M.Sc. (Ag) in Plant breeding and Genetics with 5-6 years of experience in seed industry or public institution. Or a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding & Genetics with 3-5 years of relevant research experience in the crop Sorghum.

Experience & Desired Skills:

• Sound knowledge of crop breeding techniques with demonstrated ability to use statistical analysis as well as molecular breeding techniques.
• Ability to work on breeding of complex traits.
• Demonstrated success in developing successful new varieties.
• Excellent knowledge of crop agronomy.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Able to travel extensively.
• Self motivated with good communication ability.
