MAIN GOAL :
In accordance with the Company strategy, the Trait Pathologist contributes to the definition of the most efficient strategy to address pathology trait discovery and deployment for Solanaceae crops. In collaboration with an international multidisciplinary team including breeders and experts in Genetics, Genomics, Metabolomics, Bioanalysis and Statistics, the Trait Pathologist deciphers Pathology trait and develops efficient tools and methodologies, to improve mid and long-term efficiency of the breeding programs of the Business Unit.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- To initiate, propose, develop, and implement state of the art research projects in Plant Pathology according to client needs, in a multidisciplinary environment, as a project leader or a project team member
- To be responsible for the organization and execution of assigned research projects within the framework of the project plan, budget and timeframe
- To facilitate the transfer of tools and methods designed for improving efficiency of breeding and speed to market to the research application teams
- To identify and propose external collaborations with world-class experts to accelerate trait discovery and tool development
- To develop intellectual property protection as appropriate and maintain awareness of intellectual property environment
PROFILE :
- You hold a PhD in plant Pathology or closely related fields, and at least 2 years of successful experience. Experience in private business is a plus.
- You master Plant Pathology particularly related to molecular plant pathogen interactions, plant disease resistance and pathogen diversity. You already have demonstrated understanding of plant breeding and use of molecular markers. You are knowledgeable in statistics, plant genetics, and plant physiology.
- Your experience in research project management from proposal development to execution and reporting (including scheduling, budget planning, reporting, analyzing, interpreting) would help you to successfully carry out your mission.
- You have strong communication and organizational skills. You have good project team coordination and stakeholder’s management skills.
- Finally, your agility allows you to work in matrix, intercultural and multi-location environments. In accordance with this, you are fluent in both English and French (oral and written). Travels are to be expected in France, Europe and internationally (~20%).
