MAIN GOAL
Within a research center of a seed company located in Saint-Rémy-De-Provence, focused on varietal creation, and as an expert in quantitative genetics applied to plant breeding, you will be proactive in proposition innovative genetic solution to improve efficiency of our breeding programs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Attached to the Global Genetic Research Manager, you:
- Are responsible for projects oriented towards the exploration, development and implementation of marker-assisted selection processes,
- Develop or contribute to multidisciplinary projects in direct collaboration with breeders, pathologists, molecular biologists, statisticians, bioinformaticians and support teams,
- Participate in the implementation of new tools and methods in genetics and contribute to user support,
- Take part in decisions related to the species for which you will be responsible, as well as in scientific emulation within the R&D team,
- Help develop intellectual property and guarantee the freedom to operate in the context of patents related to genetic material,
In this context, you will collaborate and coordinate your activities with teams located in different countries.
PROFILE
- Coming from a PhD specializing in statistics / quantitative genetics, you have a strong expertise applied to varietal selection. Experience in a seed industry is highly appreciated.
- Diversity analysis, genetic mapping, QTL, genome sequencing, or even genomic selection are tools and methods that are familiar to you.
- Your experience of at least 3 years in the management of research projects from concept to conclusion (organization, planning of operations, statistical analyzes, interpretation of results) will allow you to successfully carry out your missions.
- Creative and innovative, you know how to propose and implement solutions and tools in line with the needs of the selection. You have strong convincing skills.
- Finally, your agility allows you to work in matrix, intercultural and multi-location environments. In accordance with this, you are both fluent in English and French (both orally and in writing).
- Travels are to be expected in France and internationally
