The Protein Analysis group is a service function within BPS research. The group is a member of the Molecular Analysis Technology Center that utilizes molecular analytical technologies to support the trait discovery platform at BASF Plant Science. This group provides completed work package tasks which help advance BPS research projects to commericalization.
Responsibilities of the position will involve planning, designing strategy and executing laboratory based workpackages to express and purify recombinant expressed proteins, develop and perform immunological and biochemical assays for proteins, that will, in turn, aid protein based discovery research and trait development. The Scientist will also prepare data summaries, reports and presentation on research results. The Scientist will ensure experiments are conducted within applicable regulatory guidelines, and maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the -art principles, theories and technologies and will generate new ideas that will help further develop BPS traits. This person will provide protein detection and assay support to the group and will participate in protein discovery research. This person will contribute his/her technical and theoretical expertise on a day to day basis to the team. (S)he will interact with different project teams and provide scientific expertise in protein research for each project.
Required Qualifications:
- BS with greater than 7 years or MS with 5 years or PhD in plant biochemistry or related field with experience in industry setting. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
- Demonstrated creative problem solving skills, strong planning and organizational capabilities and the ability to work with all levels in the organization.
- Proven hands on experience in the following plant research techniques: protein isolation and purification, protein expression with and without tag, immunological and biochemical analyses.
- Strong background in plant molecular biology, biochemistry and immunological methods is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on experience in technologies to identify protein-DNA interactions.
