About Us
 
Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet.  We are currently seeking a Market Segment Lead to support our US Vegetables East Region team.  This role will be based out of our Naples, Fl site.  Other locations will not be considered.  The prime purpose of the Market Segment Lead (MSL) is to ensure development of a superior across-crops portfolio that will address grower and customer needs based on Target Product Profile (TPP) developed in conjunction with the business functions.  In this role, you will represent the Seeds Development (SD) organization in the East market and be responsible for translating market needs and the business plan into resource and strategy.  You will collaborate with the Seeds Development functions and portfolio managers to develop the strategic Market Segment plan that will support the business objectives for the East Region in the US.
 
Accountabilities
 
Trialing:
  • End to End responsibility of all stage 5 trials. This includes (when needed): seed shipments, trial preparation, trial management, data collection, data summary, data quality, advancement decisions and all other activities involving data generation.
  • Support Early stage trialing activities in collaboration with Breeding Project Leads and engage with Stage 6 product placement.
Data:
  • Drive data driven decision processes through adoption of new tools and capabilities. This includes, environmental modelling, high throughput phenotyping methods aiming to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Collect and report product testing KPI’s and engage with product advancement process and pipeline assessment.
People Leadership:
  • Lead the US East Region Market Segment Team to deliver the strategy and product portfolio.
  • Manage team performance, priorities, and career development of all members of the US Vegetables East Region Market Segment Team.
Business Strategy:
  • Perform annual quantitative pipeline assessment to support the investment in certain crop/ region.
  • Develop a resource plan and budget forecast to support market needs. This includes seed shipments, compliance, grower / field contracts, labor and other activities aiming to secure product development in the market across all crops.  Engage with the budget planning process, pipeline review and 5Y plan exercise.
Qualifications
 
Requirements
  • PH.D or  Master’s degree in plant breeding or similar field
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the seeds industry to include plant breeding processes, genetics, statistics, and experimental design
  • Proven track record of leading and developing teams in a cross functional environment
  • Ability to translate market needs into resource and strategy
  • Experience leading transformation through project management, collaboration, engagement, and communication
  • Experience managing a budget and resources to achieve objectives while staying within that budget
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must be able to travel approximately 50% of time within the Eastern part of the US
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in plant breeding or similar field is preferred
  • Commercial background in product management or pre-commercial development is preferred
