About the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA)
Founded in 1883, the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) is one of the oldest trade organizations in the United States. Its membership consists of over 700 companies involved in seed production and distribution, plant breeding, and related industries in North America. As an authority on plant germplasm, ASTA advocates science and policy issues of industry-wide importance.
ASTA’s mission is to be an effective voice of action in all matters concerning the development, marketing and movement of seed, associated products and services throughout the world. ASTA promotes the development of better seed to produce better crops for a better quality of life.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Membership Engagement Manager must be a strong communicator, experienced networker, have excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills, and have the ability to effectively communicate the Association’s mission and value statement with both existing members and potential members. The Member Engagement Manager requires strong administrative skills, the ability to work in a collaborative manner, and possess the ability to think creatively and strategically. This individual must be willing to travel.
The Membership Engagement Manager must be able to work independently, be exceptionally well organized and have the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, using excellent judgment while working quickly and efficiently in a changing environment. This position requires being able to anticipate membership needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain relationships with approximately 700 member companies. Outreach to existing members for volunteer engagement and association participation.
- Develop and deepen relationships with member companies in order to match the company needs with Association opportunities.
- Work in conjunction with the meetings department in increasing sponsorship revenue and opportunities.
- Create member profiles for future targeted member communications and outreach.
- Gain new knowledge of company needs.
- Maintain a working knowledge of activities and offerings within all areas of the Association.
- Provide logistical support as necessary and requested by other ASTA team members.
- Support the Association’s strategic goals to meet objectives and increase membership opportunities.
- Work concurrently with other team members to increase leads for membership.
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be directed.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Good oral and written communication; Comfortable in both negative and positive situations; Able to present to large groups; Can motivate volunteers and interact successfully with volunteers inspiring them to serve or continue serving.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to effectively use a membership database to manage membership accounts. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite required
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a creative, results-oriented, relationship management professional with a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience.
