Plant Breeder, Winter Wheat

Location: United Kingdom

Innovative French breeding company, SECOBRA Recherches, is looking to recruit a dynamic and driven winter wheat breeder, to further develop their existing UK wheat breeding program. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for an established company, specialising in wheat and barley breeding, in a highly competitive industry!

Based in the United Kingdom, Your main missions will be:

  • Autonomous planning and monitoring of the UK winter wheat program including:
    • Choosing crosses
    • Organizing and supervising drilling
    • monitoring and harvest of the trials and nursery
    • Organizing and supervising quality testing in the winter
    • Scoring and analyzing breeding data including molecular markers, genomic selection and quality data
    • Selecting the material
  • Scientific support of research projects with external partners
  • Working in a European team of wheat breeders

Your profile:

  • Master or doctorate/PhD in plant breeding, agricultural sciences or comparable
    minimum 3 years’ experience in breeding
  • Solid knowledge in breeding methodology
  • Experience in designing and evaluating field tests, analyzing data sets and handling data bases
  • You have the ability to work as a team member in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills along with some degree of flexibility are also required to succeed in the position
  • Computer skills and driving license are also necessary to complete all functions
